Knoxville, Tennessee to Take the Weekly Fitness Challenge: Aug 11 ...

Knoxville, TN (PRWEB) August 08, 2011

The Weekly Fitness Challenge campaign to conquer the fourth highest preventable cause of death in the world, the lack of physical activity, comes to Knoxville Tennessee on August 11-13. Designed by international experts in health, fitness, nutrition and wellness these three days will feature seminars, presentations, participation clinics and an introduction to the free Weekly Fitness Challenge 12 week, self-sustainable, wellness program structure.

Detouring from traditional health and fitness programs, the Weekly Fitness Challenge is based on human behavioral modeling, and incorporates scientific theory and best practices from the fields of education, psychology, physiology, medicine and wellness. Volunteer Health Experts from around the globe have structured the Knoxville events: people such as Dr. Joe Kosterich, the former head of the Australian Medical Association and well known Fitness author & TV Health commentator; Dr. Lori Shemek, Dallas TV Fitness commentator and CEO of DLS Healthworks; Peak Performance coach, trainer, health writer and public speaker Robert Choat of California; and Lucia Perez, an internationally recognized Zumba instructor from Puerto Rico. The Knoxville campaign is under the direction of Geoff Hampton who has been instrumental in numerous other health and fitness successes, starting with the development of IHRSA, the world organization that now has over 30,000 members. More than 25 internationally respected health and fitness experts serve on the Weekly Fitness Challenge guiding committees.

The Weekly Fitness Challenge counts on the ?ripple? effect to further promote healthy lifestyles. The organization provides participants with continued free support and expert advice via social media as they stride towards their health goals and a fit lifestyle. The Weekly Fitness Challenge model asks that, as those people become fit, they then mentor others in developing healthy lifestyles; a highly effective method since we know that people with reformed lifestyles are generally the best proponents of that change.

Structured exercise and proper nutrition has been documented to do everything from helping children focus in school to preventing or delaying the onset of a plethora of diseases. A recent Harvard study even concluded that US businesses get a $ 6.00 return for every $ 1 they spend on employee wellness. Yet, the World Health Organization?s data is that 1 in every 3 of the world?s adults is obese and 20 million of our children are overweight. The Weekly Fitness Challenge has set out to change those statistics by ?Changing the Shape of the World.?
