INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN SPECIALIST (IDS)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Instructional Design Specialist (IDS) reports to and assists the Manager of Curriculum Development and Improvement to ensure that the Charter College curriculum is current with career skills in the professions for which the College's academic programs prepare graduates. This includes leading the process by which curriculum is continually developed, updated, evaluated, and revised, with special focus on delivering coursework and programs in blended and online formats. The IDS leads the conversion of coursework and programs from an in-classroom and/or online delivery to blended delivery, with emphasis on maintaining consistency between delivery formats while simultaneously taking advantage of every teaching method to the greatest extent possible. In addition, the IDS helps implements new and revised programs on existing and new campuses and existing programs on new campuses by training faculty and academic leadership in the advantages of each teaching method.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Master's degree (instructional design, curriculum development, or other related field) plus three (3) years of postsecondary teaching experience in the discipline required

OR

• Bachelor's degree (instructional design, curriculum development, or other related field) plus five (5) years of postsecondary teaching experience in the discipline required
• Three (3) years of experience in managing instructional design projects required; experience with blended or online learning systems preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with different positions within the system required
• MS Office skills required
